Safety when burning a candle should be your first priority. Follow these simple rules for a proper burn to enjoy your Helessence candles to the fullest.

1. Never leave a candle unattended.
The candle you light should always be in your field of vision. We know, it is so relaxing and romantic to let a candle burn by your bedside and you fall asleep sweetly from the flickering flame. It's a nice feeling. And dangerous too.

2. Keep the candle away from anything that might catch fire
Especially curtains, which have a bad habit of being attracted to flames (what a pity ...). Other seemingly good objects that love fire are your books, papers, bedding and hair.

3. Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets
As cat owners, we can assure you that they rarely, if ever, want to approach a lighted candle (because, you know… instinct?), But we can not guarantee the same with lower intelligence beings such as dogs and babies.

4. Trim the wick to half a centimeter before each use
Have you noticed the height of the wick on a new Helessence candle? There is a reason for this and it is that long or crooked wicks can cause uneven and bad burning.

5. Make sure your candle is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface
Never place a candle on a sloping surface or under an unstable object that can be shaken by the slightest movement. Also, "heat-resistant surface" means anything that does not amplify the heat generated by a candle when lit (eg metal)

6. Keep the surface of your candle clean
Shavings from wicks, ash from matches, scraps of photos of your ex are harmful to your safety, health and psychology respectively.

7. Keep your candles away from currents or ventilation devices
We are talking about fans and direct currents created by air conditioning. Apart from the fact that your candle will burn much faster than it should - which means that it will run out faster, there is a risk that these currents of air will carry flammable small objects near the flame (see 2)

8. Never burn a candle to the bottom of the container
If you want to keep our beautiful glass containers for your own use in one whole piece then you should extinguish the flame about 1 cm before it reaches the bottom. < br>
9. Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time
This applies to all candles, not just ours. The 4-hour rule ensures that the wicks will not absorb much fuel (wax) and will not start producing a larger flame than we intended as manufacturers for proper combustion (a good flame is about 2.5 cm).

10. Never use a candle as a night light
This was the No. 1 reason homes were set on fire in centuries past. In 2000 we now have lenses for this reason or our mobile phones.

11. Place candles that burn 8-10 cm apart
Yes it is very romantic and a bit rustic to make a huge array of all kinds of candles lit side by side for a romantic getaway with the other half . But in a few hours, they will melt each other, which is extremely dangerous for both of you.

12. Never extinguish candles with water
Do we really need to explain this now?
